Silverado The basic problems

Silverado

The basic problems facing the world today are not susceptible to a military solution. War will exist until that distant day when the conscientious objector enjoys the same reputation and prestige that the warrior does today. Unconditional war can no longer Silverado to unconditional victory. It can no longer serve to settle no longer be of concern to great powers alone. We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people. Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures. About the quote : President Kennedy lived 1917-1 From The Anti-War Quote Book, Quirk Books, Ed. by Eric Groves Sr. The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie: deliberate, continued, and dishonest; but the myth: persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind. We are all familiar Silverado the argument: Make war dreadful enough, and there will be no war. And we none of us believe it. Peace hath higher tests of manhood than battle ever knew. There is neither rank nor station nor prerogative in the republic of the grave. War remains the decisive human failure. If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then thered be peace. All all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty or possessions. For what can war, but endless war, still breed? The hardest thing for me in Vietnam wasnt seeing the wounded and dead. It was watching the big transport jets come in, bringing loads of fresh new boys for the war. About the quote : Speaking about his experience when he and June Carter went to Vietnam to entertain the troups in 1 from Cash: The Autobiography, Harper Collins, page 218 America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not sufficient warrant. Imperialism is an institution under which one nation asserts the right to seize the land or at least to control the government or resources of another people. Those who suppress freedom always do so in the name of law and order. The opposite of war is not peace, its creation. There is but Silverado evil, war. All the other proclaimed evils such as hate, greed, descrimination, and jealousy are only sub-categories of it. In war, there are no unwounded soldiers. About the quote : Narosky is an Argentinian writer and musician. From The Anti-War Quote Book, Quirk Books, Ed. by Eric Groves Sr. Our poverty will be brought home to us to its full extent only after the war. Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play. Id like to see the government get out of war altogether and leave the whole field to private individuals.
